Travelers planning to visit Azerbaijan have several options to receive an Azerbaijan visa.

  • e-Visa
  • On Arrival visa
  • Through Azerbaijan Embassy located in their country

Azerbaijan Visa, How to Apply for it?


There are only some countries whose citizens can apply for e-Visa to travel to Azerbaijan. The e-Visa is issued within 3 (three) working days. e-Visa applications can be created for an individual, a family (minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 persons), or a group (minimum of 10 and maximum of 300 persons). The necessary data for the e-Visa should be entered directly into the system.
There are 2 options to apply for e-Visa, either to apply for a standard e-Visa issued within 3 business days or to apply for an urgent e-Visa issued within 3 hours.
The fee for the e-Visa is paid electronically via the system & the e-Visa is sent to the e-mail address of an applicant.
One of the main requirements is that the passport’s expiry date of the traveler should be more than 6 months at the time of the planned travel date.

How to get an On Arrival visa to Azerbaijan?

There are a few countries’ citizens who can get their Azerbaijan visa on arrival. Apart from getting an electronic visa, this option makes it possible to obtain a visa within a short span of time. The benefit of getting an Azerbaijan visa on arrival is, visitors can get their visa at Azerbaijan airport. Nevertheless, a limited number of country nationalities are allowed to take this action.

People who have passports from the following countries are eligible to get a visa upon arrival:

  • UAE
  • Bahrain
  • Kuwait
  • Saudi Arabia
  • China
  • Malaysia
  • Singapore
  • Israel
  • Oman
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Iran
  • Indonesia

Foreign residents of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman) can get a visa upon arrival if their residency expiry date is more than 6 months at the planned travel date.
Except for the residents of UAE, the residents of other GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman) need to be accompanied by a citizen of the corresponding country to be eligible for a visa upon arrival. It is preferable to have a notarized English translation of the residence permit for a more convenient border-crossing procedure.

All other nationalities who don’t meet the requirements above should apply for a visa at their nearest Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
